Caption limits for every platform Ellum publishes to, media sizes, and why the strictest limit wins when you select several.

Caption limits

X allows 280 characters. Threads allows 500. TikTok allows 150 in the caption. Instagram allows 2,200. LinkedIn allows 3,000. YouTube allows 5,000. Facebook allows 63,206.

When a post targets more than one platform, the composer enforces the strictest of the selected limits. A caption that fits LinkedIn will be blocked if X is also selected and it is over 280. Either shorten it or split the post so X gets its own variant.

Media

Images can be up to 10 MB and videos up to 100 MB. Each platform also has its own aspect-ratio window and, in some cases, a minimum media count. The composer preview warns about both before you schedule, so a post that looks fine in the editor does not fail later.
