Fix an account that says Reconnect needed

Platform tokens expire. Reconnecting takes one login and restores posting and analytics without losing scheduled posts.

Why it happens

Every platform issues Ellum a token that eventually expires, and some revoke it early when you change your password, remove a permission or change who administers a page. When that happens the account row reads Reconnect needed with the note "This account's access expired — posting and analytics pause until you reconnect."

Reconnect

  1. 01Open Settings, then Social.
  2. 02Choose Reconnect on the affected row.
  3. 03Log in with the same account. A different account creates a second connection instead of repairing this one.
  4. 04Facebook only: re-select the page.
  5. 05Open Manage Content, filter by Failed, and retry anything that fell over while the account was disconnected.

What about scheduled posts?

Posts scheduled for after you reconnect go out as planned. Posts that came due while the account was disconnected are marked Failed and wait for a retry; nothing is silently dropped.
